Prime Minister Anthony Albanese wrote to the Fair Labor Relations Commission a letter calling for an increase in the minimum wage.
However, the government does not specify how much wages should be raised.
Fairwork will make a decision next month, affecting more than 2 million workers.
Albanese’s decision not to give him the numbers he believes wages should rise is contrary to comments from his campaign demanding a rise in line with inflation of 5.1 percent.
“There won’t be a number in the submission,” Mr Albanese said.
